The Importance of Reading Labels

Lesson 2

Now that you know more about going cruelty-free, you are probably asking yourself what steps you need to take to make the change. The process of going cruelty-free in 2021 does not have to be stressful, and it does not need to take a long time. If you follow certain steps, the process will not be a hard one.

The steps needed are not difficult. You can begin right now. The key is to remain committed and knowledgeable. If you remain consistent you will succeed. Make a plan and stick with it. You will find that it will move quicker than you imagined.

Remember, you have already done the hardest part: deciding to go cruelty-free.

It may seem like in 2021 it is difficult to go cruelty-free, but it does not have to be. The process can run as smoothly as you like. Here is the first step that you need to go cruelty-free in 2021.

Read the Labels of Everything You Buy

All too often, the labels on products are ignored or overlooked, but they should not be. There is a lot of important information written there, and it is the perfect place to begin.

There are many products out there that will say their product is vegan (does not use animal byproducts), or that their product is organic, and so on. Look for these labels and make note of them.

Of course, these labels do not guarantee that a product was not tested on animals. If you see them you may need to do some more research into the company. It is, however, a good starting point.

Some products will, however, specifically mention that they have not been tested on animals. If a product says this then you are heading in the right direction! Familiarize yourself with the language and the symbols used on labels. After a while, you will know exactly where to look and what to look for.

Labels That Need a Little More Research

If a product does not say it was not tested on animals then you will need to do a little more research into the company. If a label says one of the following then it is possible their product was not tested on animals, though further research will be needed:

  • Vegan
  • Organic
  • Natural

Did you know that there is no requirement for a company to label their products with one of the above titles? It is up to them. This is why further research is necessary. Any company can claim their product is natural even if that is not entirely the case.
