But is there anything missing from this brand that aims to care for the environment as much as it takes care of your precious skin?
Let's find out!
Purito Ethical Overview
Purito is 100% Cruelty-Free
Test any of its products or ingredients on animals
Purchase any ingredients tested on animals within its supply chain
Distribute its products to any countries that require animal testing by law.
Purito is an independently owned and funded brand- so no need to worry about a parent company with dubious values!
Does Purito Test on Animals?
Purito has always been committed to creating clean, simple, and effective skincare that’s also cruelty-free. This has been its intention since its founding in 2015.
What Is Purito’s Cruelty-Free Status in 2023?
Here is a screenshot of Purito’s official statement regarding its cruelty-free policies and vegan products, taken from its website:
Purito Has No Cruelty-Free Certification in 2023
We wonder why Purito has chosen not to be Cruelty-Free certified- especially when they have a vegan certification…
Ideally, all brands that consider themselves cruelty-free should be Leaping Bunny certified.
While you might know PETA very well – it surprisingly doesn't hold the strictest cruelty-free regulations. Leaping Bunny certification is the gold standard to live up to.
Did you know that in the US, most animal testing is regulated by the Animal Welfare Act (1966)? If you did know this, did you know that this act does not include birds, rats, and mice, which make up 95% of animals used in research?
Is Purito Sold Where Animal Testing is Required By Law?
Purito does not distribute any of its products to China or any country that requires animal testing on cosmetics by law.
China has a shocking track record. It is the country with the most animal testing globally, with over 20 million animals used per year.
However, if you live in China or are concerned about its cruel beauty policies, there are a couple of loopholes.

Purito is Vegan
Not only is this well-priced K-Beauty skincare brand entirely vegan- they are verified by the European Vegetarian’s Union’s V-LABEL. It does not use any animal-derived ingredients in any of its products.
However, it's worth knowing that Purito is the exception and not the rule- especially in Korean Beauty.
The Best Vegan Purito Products
You have more vegan options than you’ll know what to do with. Purito has a tremendous vegan Korean Beauty range, which keeps growing.

Vegan Alternatives to Purito
Purito is Considered Natural, but Not Organic
Purito is a natural brand. It claims to use high amounts of natural ingredients in each product.
Purito might use organic ingredients in some formulas, but it is not certified organic, nor does it advertise itself as an organic cosmetics brand.
All products use a certain amount of synthetic ingredients in their formulas. Purito is no exception – but it does choose to use better or clean synthetics.
If a synthetic ingredient is "clean," it means it is safe and non-toxic for us. Its purpose is to preserve the stability of a beauty formulation.
Purito Has An 91% Allergen-Free Ranking
According to Skin Safe, Purito has a 91% allergen-free ranking for each product.
Many of Purito’s products are free of allergens such as parabens, lanolin, topical antibiotics, coconut, gluten, MCI/MI, nickel, fragrances, gluten, propylene glycol, soy, dye, oils, irritants, and SLS.
All Purito products are free from artificial colorants, artificial fragrance, benzoyl peroxide, BHT, ethanol, mineral oils and mineral oil derivatives, imidazolidinyl urea, paraben, PEG (series), petrochemicals, phthalein, surfactants, sorbic acid, triethanolamine, and triclosan.
We’ll sign up for Korean Beauty with none of the above!
Purito is also completely hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.
However, we recommend reading a product’s ingredient list before purchasing, as formulas can be subject to change.
The EU/UK Have Stricter Ingredient Regulations
We don’t want to scare you, but you HAVE to read up on any product’s ingredient list before you make a purchase – especially if you live within the United States. The reason why will shock you.
The FDA has only banned or restricted 11 harmful chemicals from cosmetics within the country. Europe and the UK, on the other hand, have banned 1,328!
Purito is a fantastic example of true clean beauty, and you shouldn’t have to worry about any serious hidden nasties in its products.
With skincare, you want to avoid these ingredients:
Purito Is Highly Sustainable and Ethical
One of the ethical causes Purito supports is animal welfare by donating a portion of proceeds to Best Friends Animal Society. The brand also donates to the Korean Federations of Environment Movement.
It's no secret that the world has a huge waste problem, and cosmetic brands only make it worse by using unsustainable packaging and harmful ingredients.
Purito takes environmental accountability by
Korean Beauty has a reputation for being more sustainable; Purito is one of the few brands living up to that reputation- not just greenwashing.
We love its ethical policies regarding veganism and being cruelty-free. It has some great ethical initiatives in keeping with its brand values.
We would love to see more ingredient sourcing transparency- especially regarding palm oil and mica. Luckily, Purito is very responsive when it comes to communication with its fans.
And, of course, seeing Purito become cruelty-free certified would be fantastic. The brand would lead the way for K-Beauty sustainability!
